Terms of Use

The terms that govern your use of the mumbuddie app.

1. Acceptance of terms

By creating an account or using the mumbuddie app, you agree to these Terms of Use and our Privacy Policy. If you don't agree, please don't use the app.

You must be 18 or older to use mumbuddie.

2. What mumbuddie is

mumbuddie is a community and support app for pregnancy and postpartum, connecting you with others in a similar due-date window, shared background, or role (birthing parent or partner), plus educational content about pregnancy and early parenthood.

mumbuddie is not a medical service. Nothing in the app, including community posts, educational modules, or content written or endorsed by the mumbuddie team, is medical advice, and it does not replace your midwife, GP, obstetrician, or emergency services. If you are concerned about your or your baby's health, contact a qualified professional. If it's an emergency, call your local emergency number.

3. Your account

You must provide accurate information when creating your account, and you're responsible for keeping it secure. One account per person; accounts are not transferable. You can delete your account at any time in Settings.

4. Community guidelines

mumbuddie's communities exist to be a safe, supportive space. By posting, you agree not to:

• Harass, threaten, or abuse other members
• Share hateful, discriminatory, or sexually explicit content
• Give medical advice presented as fact, or discourage someone from seeking professional care
• Impersonate another person or organisation, including mumbuddie staff
• Share another person's private information without their consent
• Spam, advertise, or solicit other members
• Post anything illegal

Posts can optionally be made anonymously. Anonymity does not exempt you from these guidelines, see Section 6 on moderation.

5. Content you post

You retain ownership of what you write. By posting, you grant mumbuddie a licence to store, display, and distribute it within the app so other members can see it. You're responsible for what you post, don't post anything you don't have the right to share. We may remove content, or restrict your account, if it violates these Terms or our community guidelines.

6. Moderation

Our communities are moderated by a mixture of mumbuddie staff and volunteer moderators, who can review reports, annotate or remove posts, and suspend accounts that repeatedly or seriously violate these Terms. If you post anonymously, a moderator can see the author only when investigating a specific report or safety concern, this is never shown to other members, and is itself a logged action.

You can report any post or reply that concerns you using the in-app report feature.

7. Official / team content

Content clearly attributed to the mumbuddie team is written or reviewed by us. Community member posts, including those in official-feeling communities, are the views of that individual member, not mumbuddie, unless explicitly labelled otherwise.

8. No AI-generated content (for now)

mumbuddie does not currently use artificial intelligence to generate replies, moderate posts, or produce any content you see in the app. Everything in the Vault is written or reviewed by a person, and Circle moderation is carried out by mumbuddie staff and volunteer moderators, not automated systems.

If we introduce an AI-powered feature in future (for example, AI-assisted replies or content suggestions), we will label that content clearly in the app and update these Terms and our Privacy Policy before it goes live.

9. Copyright and other people's content

Only post content you have the right to share. Don't post text, images, or other material that infringes someone else's copyright, trademark, or other rights.

If you believe something posted on mumbuddie infringes your copyright, contact us at mumbuddie@gmail.com with: a description of the copyrighted work you believe is infringed; the specific post or location in the app where it appears; and your contact details plus a statement that you have a good-faith belief the use is unauthorised.

We'll review the report and remove or restrict access to the content where appropriate. Repeat infringers may have their accounts suspended or terminated.

10. Termination

We may suspend or terminate your account if you violate these Terms, misuse the app, or if we're required to by law. You can stop using the app and delete your account at any time.

11. Disclaimers

The app is provided "as is". We do our best to keep it available and accurate, but we don't guarantee it will be uninterrupted, error-free, or fit for any particular purpose. Content in the Vault and community is general information, not personalised medical advice.

12. Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, mumbuddie and mumbuddie.com (placeholder, to be replaced with the incorporated legal entity name once one exists) are not liable for indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from your use of the app. Nothing in these Terms limits liability that cannot legally be limited (for example, liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, or fraud).

13. Changes to these terms

We may update these Terms as the app evolves, updating the date above and letting you know in-app if changes are material.

14. Governing law and disputes

These Terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales, and the courts of England and Wales have jurisdiction over any dispute, unless you live elsewhere and local law gives you the right to bring a claim in your own courts, which this section doesn't take away.

If you have a complaint, contact us first at the email below so we can try to sort it out directly. As a UK consumer, nothing in these Terms requires you to use arbitration instead of the courts, and you keep your normal statutory rights.
